The Shaker Loft Kitchen at Cotes Mill

We have recently updated our Loft Kitchen at Cotes Mill to show you the beauty of our Scullery Yellow paint colour. We didn’t change any of the furniture, we just repainted the cupboards, added Carrara marble worktops and our aged brass accessories. The transformation is stunning and shows the versatility of deVOL's Shaker cupboards and how an update can be just as good as a new kitchen if you have well-made cupboards to begin with.

This area of the Mill is lofty and open with high barn-like ceilings and great natural light. It has a beautifully worn wooden floor that works so well with the Scullery Yellow, creating a lived-in feel with lots of vintage wooden accessories and Mediterranean coloured pots and bowls. We have introduced four of our large Task Lights to this kitchen, they work so well when you have high ceilings and tall walls. Their creamy shades and elegant brass arms create big pools of light which spread across the whole room with a warm and comforting glow. The substantial central island incorporates a gas hob and integrated ovens yet doesn't dominate or spoil the simplicity of the room, it creates a wonderful area in which to prep and display cookware on the open slatted ends.

The room is spacious and allowed us to fit in a wonderfully useful vintage prep table near the window. There was also a perfect spot to incorporate our round Vineyard Table and two pretty old antique chairs, adding to the vintage feel and making the room really practical not just for cooking, but living and dining too.
