Pearl and Danny's Portobello Pad

Total Cupboard Costs: £30,860

Glittering, glamorous and secretly practical, this new Classic English kitchen is designed to be functional, but, because it is in the main living space of Pearl and Danny's new home, it really needed to be beautiful, relaxed and definitely not too kitcheny. Our favourite types of kitchens are those that feel more of a furnished room, so we knew this would be a perfect little addition to our projects page.

Westbourne Grove, Portobello Road Market, and our favourite, Golborne Road, are all close to Pearl and Danny's new place, it’s such a buzzy, unique part of London, eclectic, stylish and just a bit bohemian. Stepping through the door into a gorgeously atmospheric and moody house was seriously intoxicating, we just loved how pretty and delicate it felt! Pearl and Danny had managed (of course!) to give the house exactly the right personality, comfortingly soft and sparkly in a very grown-up way.

This kitchen had everything; a Dairy Table and Bentwood Café Stools, a big fridge freezer, a deep copper sink and plenty of storage, it even had a baby blue Lacanche cooker. Pearl had chosen some of her favourite possessions to style this room, I would have known it was her house even if no one had told me. Isn’t it great to have good taste and an eye for always getting it just right, and a love of collecting, so you can just pluck out a whole bunch of beautiful things and there you go, a fabulous kitchen that feels like it’s been there forever.

This ubiquitous Notting Hill pastel-painted terrace with its high ceilings, cornice and fabulous ceiling roses, traditional wide polished floorboards and grand proportions was everything we wanted it to be. Then to top it all off, there was the joy of finding a little deVOL Printer's Black washstand hiding behind the bathroom door, draped in feather boas and faded roses. All was right in the world after that!!!
