A cupboard catch is such a traditional, staple piece of door furniture. If it’s an old one it’s solid and practical, if it’s a new one it can be flimsy and not very fluid to use.

So, we took on the challenge of making a few little changes to what is a very classic design. We like these challenges because we love old products that have either gone out of favour or been mass-produced to make them cheaper and inevitably poorer quality.

We altered the original design very slightly, making it slimmer than the old boxy style we all know so well, it has now become a bit more dainty. We completely rethought the movements of the catch, giving it a longer throw therefore ensuring a tighter, more satisfying close. Finally, we added a little detail to the turning knob to give a more refined look, just a simple raised edge, but that’s all it needed.

Made and hand-aged in 'Heirloom Brass', we think the new deVOL Cupboard Catch is a classic made a little bit better. It matches all our other Heirloom Brass products with its living finish which will age beautifully over time, the more you use the catch the more its colours will shine.
