We’re up for a 2016 Wood Award!!

As if this year hasn’t been exciting enough, we’ve only gone and got ourselves shortlisted for the 2016 Wood Awards! Yes, our beautiful new Sebastian Cox Kitchen range is up for another award and we couldn’t be happier. So to celebrate, I thought I’d share some of the gorgeous pictures of our brand new Sebastian Cox showroom in London.
The Wood Awards have been going since the start of the seventies but went through a bit of a revamp and changed their name in the early 2000s. It’s the UK’s premier competition for excellence in architecture and product design in the world’s only naturally sustainable material aka wood. Here at deVOL we’re pretty passionate about all things wood, and I know Sebastian is too. This range was all about celebrating British design, craftsmanship and materials, so to be nominated for an award that encompasses all of those elements is just amazing.
The shortlists were only announced the other day but it’s already caused a bit of a stir with the media, Wallpaper magazine even called our new range ‘a wood lovers’ dream’. I couldn’t agree more and I know, I am probably a little biased, but I do now also see this kitchen every single day and I think I fall a little bit more in love with it every time I do. It’s like all of my favourite films, I’ll re-watch them and notice some small clever detail that I missed first time round.
We’ll have to wait until November for the winners to be announced so all we can do is keep everything crossed for another win. We’ve been so lucky this year to have first won the Homes and Gardens Designer Award and then the amazing achievement of being awarded a Design Guild Mark. Well, I suppose it’s a little bit of luck, but it’s also a hell of a lot of hard work by a ridiculously talented bunch, so it’s really nice to see them have a well deserved pat on the back for everything they’ve achieved with this range.
If you are in the Clerkenwell area, please feel free to come and have a nosy at our cool new basement showroom and see what all the fuss is about. I think you can only really get a sense of how great this design is by seeing it in the flesh, actually touching the cupboards and feeling the quality. It’s such a tactile kitchen…that’s actually my favourite thing about it.
