SLA – an organic café in Amsterdam

I have just got back from a long weekend in Amsterdam with Georgia and we had the best time. We visited lots and lots of places, saw lots of things, cycled around the beautiful canalled streets, enjoyed the sunshine, drank lots of coffee and cocktails and ate some amazing food. But there was one little café I thought I’d blog about today, because I think if you’re planning a trip to Amsterdam you may like to check this place out!
We came across SLA as we were wandering around the streets of the Jordaan area of Amsterdam, just a few minutes walk from our hotel. We both remembered spotting it whilst googling ‘best lunches in Amsterdam’ so stumbling across it seemed like fate and we knew we had to check it out.
There are lots of very stylish spots in Amsterdam and SLA is definitely up there with the best. SLA is an organic café who specialise in beautifully nutritious, clean and tasty food and drinks. They’re best known for their salads, but also serve up energising and green smoothies, fairtrade coffees, craft beers and everything else you might need to live a clean, raw and healthy lifestyle.

We were pretty sad as we’d only eaten lunch ten minutes before finding this little spot, and as much as we wanted to, we couldn’t manage a whole meal, but we did find a little bit of space for a fresh ‘four o’clock power smoothie’ which was so yummy!

The whole design of this café is amazing and so stylish. It has such a calming and natural feel to it, with crisp white walls and lots of greenery about the place. Of course I loved all the cute little cacti, succulents and houseplants about the place, they contrasted so beautifully with the industrial metal framing and neon signs. SLA also have a small, and very carefully chosen, selection of organic cookery and lifestyle books, journals and little hand painted postcards for sale too.
SLA now have five beautiful café’s open in Amsterdam, so you’ll never be too far away to pick up a super healthy salad bowl and a raw fruit juice to give you a little kick of energy!
