OSB

Oriented strand board is an engineered wood panel made from layers of wooden strips. The layers are positioned, compressed and bonded together in such a way that it makes the board incredibly rigid. OSB is primarily used for construction and is ideal for flooring, sheathing walls and cladding roofs. However, I’ve gone a bit mad recently using this material for making furniture in my flat. As well as being cheap, it’s fairly easy to work with and the wooden chips have a nice visual effect.
The piece above was made for housing my turntable. There are two pull-out drawers for storing records and everything is held down securely in place by a set of concrete blocks.
A little shelf with a pair of dowels is used to display the album cover.
This simple shoe box is a small hallway piece for holding your day-to-day shoes. It displays your favourite pair of trainers and hides away your work shoes after a long day.
OSB was an ideal choice for these projects. They are quite simple and functional pieces that will hopefully stand up to my daily routine!
