Kinfolk people………….
22nd January 2015
Kinfolk is fast becoming a byword for how to live your life in a super stylish but understated ‘I don’t even have to try’ kind of a way.
It gives us a peek into a world where everyone cooks ridiculously beautiful, healthy food and wears linen. They live in unusually quirky homes in Brooklyn or Copenhagen and however tiny their place is there’s always room for a small table, some hand thrown pottery and someone wearing an apron. Kinfolk kinds always wear comfortable shoes and slightly crumpled clothes and always have shiny hair and creative jobs. They have a mix of rustic and cool stuff in their homes and wardrobes and whether it’s from Ikea or a family heirloom it instantly becomes right on trend, just because… These lucky people are a canny mix of – old aunt that lives in the English countryside and makes homemade jam and knitted cardigans and your – ‘way too cool’ friend who lives in New York with his model boyfriend.
Knowing the success of the Kinfolk journals and everyone’s obsession to become a Kinfolk type person, they have launched a new lifestyle brand called ‘Ouur’. It’s a studio/shop with collections of clothes, publications and home wares as well as becoming another host for more gatherings around the world.
I’m not sure the brand alone can make you ‘Completely Kinfolk’ which is lucky, because the range is currently only available in Japan. But it will give you lots more lovely images and style tips to delight yourself with over a pot noodle in your Primark onesy!! only joking I always wear linen pyjamas and never eat food that is out of season!!
The Ouur designs are influenced by Scandinavia and Japan, regions that focus on simplicity in design and place high value on doing more with less. Produced mainly in Japan, Ouur items are made using textiles such as linen, cotton and wool from Western Europe, Japan, Lithuania, Romania, Scotland and beyond. The Ouur team also collaborates with the broader creative community—such as leather workers, ceramicists and independent clothing designers—for select pieces each season.
Check out their website and all the simple beautiful images and try to get just a little Kinfolkness into your life.
