A yurt designed for the modern age.

Jero is a portable shelter inspired by traditional yurts that have been used by central Asian nomads for thousands of years. Heavy felt, rope and wooden lattices have been replaced by lightweight stainless steel fixings, marine plywood and waterproof cotton canvas to form a beautiful refined dwelling. Jero comes as a flat-pack kit to be transported by bike or car and is assembled in a few hours without the need for tools. It’s a great mixture of high-tech design yet the traditional sense of adventure is still intact.

Jero is designed by Trakke, a Glasgow-based company who produce a fantastic range of handmade backpacks. I love the simplicity of their designs and their stripped- down look is in part thanks to their belief of using high-quality British materials. You can find out more at Trakke.
