A very special nomination

We are very excited and very proud to announce that we have been nominated for a Homes & Gardens Designer Award! Our beautiful Sebastian Cox Kitchen, which we created in collaboration with the very talented Sebastian Cox, has made the shortlist in their ‘Kitchen Designer’ category.
This is such big deal for us, to know that something we have worked so hard on and a kitchen that we love so much has been nominated for such a prestigious award, not to mention recognised and appreciated by some of the biggest and most respected names in the industry, makes us very happy.
The Homes & Gardens Awards are all about recognising designers and designer collaborations, and we feel our collaboration with Sebastian Cox is the epitome of a true, organic and very real one. The Sebastian Cox Kitchen by deVOL kind of happened by chance I guess, it wasn’t planned, it just happened and it felt right. There seemed no reason for us to introduce another designer into the mix or another kitchen range for that matter, that was, until we met Sebastian. It was a slow and gentle journey from the first meeting to the finished ‘Sebastian Cox Kitchen’, beginning as an introduction from our graphic designer who went to University with Sebastian over 4 years ago. It started as a friendship and mutual appreciation for beautiful British design and it gradually became what we now call a collaboration. It was the perfect mix of minds, ideals and passions and we think the outcome is pretty amazing.
I thought it would be cool to show you all of the very special and talented people who were involved in the designing and making of our beautiful Sebastian Cox Kitchen. So, starting from top left… deVOL’s founder & director Paul O’Leary, deVOL’s managing director Robin McLellan, deVOL’s creative director Helen Parker, deVOL’s workshop manager Ben Creed, deVOL’s product designer Ben Flannaghan, and Sebastian Cox, craftsman and furniture maker.
The rest of the shortlist will be announced on the Homes & Gardens blog on February 16th and also in the March issue of the mag, which should be out any day now. And we are keeping our fingers tightly crossed for the results, which will be announced at a London ceremony on March 1st. Wish us luck!
Oh and one more exciting thing… the very first Sebastian Cox Kitchen brochure is now finished! We can’t believe how beautifully this one has turned out and are very excited for you all to see…
