a piece of paradise in the woods.
1st November 2016
Another day, another photoshoot, actually it has become one of the best parts of my job, visiting lovely places, meeting fascinating and different people and being able to make their kitchens look just right. I then love coming back and looking at the images and finally being able to see them out and about on social media for everyone to enjoy and comment on. I check out Instagram quite often after a new kitchen image has been posted just to see if it’s going to be a popular one and I love to read what everyone says about the kitchen. It’s so satisfying to imagine a look in your head before you go, gather up your props and bits and bobs, wander round the garden for some leaves and twigs and then just hope it all comes together. I like to include something of my own in the shoot, the fluffy bag got chosen for this kitchen!!
Sometimes you get bowled over by something quite simple, it just connects with you and makes you smile. This simple deVOL Shaker Kitchen was tucked away in the forest, just outside Woodhouse Eaves in Leicestershire, yet the ambiance and the interiors almost felt as if you were in rural France. It was literally a mile or so from my own home yet it seemed a million miles away.
The kitchen layout was very minimal, just eight shaker base cupboards, no wall cupboards or shelves and a clever mix of old and new fittings and furniture throughout the room, some bits were actually from Cotes Mill. The open base cupboards were the star of the kitchen, they were big and deep and held all the pots and pans in one easy to access spot and best of all, the beautiful copper kitchenware literally shone out from the dark. I was so pleased to see these cupboards in pride of place as they were something I was very keen to include in the shaker range and they really looked at their best in this kitchen.
This kitchen is a such great example of how you can use shaker modular cupboards to create so many different looks and they work for all budgets too. The couple who own this kitchen put their heart and soul into making their home really special, they didn’t throw money at it, they worked really hard and used their style and wisdom to make it something that takes your breath away. They chose to have deVOL shaker cupboards because they wanted simple quality that would last and not date, they also loved the Pantry Blue paint colour and the deVOL brass fittings. The eight base cupboards, sink and brass fittings came to just over £5,000 and the worktops and taps were made on site using scaffolding planks and garden taps. The natural stone flooring looked just perfect too, it’s the ‘Worn Grey Limestone‘ from our sister company Floors of Stone, and we also have it laid in the cellar here at Cotes Mill if you’d like to come and have a little look at in the flesh.
So you see, you can have a really special kitchen that oozes style, luxury and quality that is made right here in Loughborough for a very affordable price, all you need is a little imagination and the help of our wonderful designers here at Cotes Mill and in London. It’s so good for all of us to see how our plans and ideas, along with our customers good taste and hard work can create such stunning interiors. Coming to Cotes Mill you find not only displays of all our kitchens but floors full of vintage furniture and quirky things to help you create a really special and unusual home. We really look forward to seeing you this winter, we have lots of parking and lots of woodburners and lots of coffee to keep you warm and ready for Christmas. We are also very excited to welcome you to our new St John’s showroom, which is nearly finished, just a few more weeks and we will be open, we will keep you posted on Instagram.
