A deVOL Kitchen in Leytonstone

Over in a trendy pocket of East London known as Leytonstone, you’ll find this rather charming deVOL kitchen. We visited on a somewhat grey wintery day but a few glimpses of sunshine made their way in, creating the most beautiful light and giving the whole space a really cool, moody, captivating feel…

Through the doorway and into the most welcoming kitchen.

As is the case with many Victorian terraces in London, the owners decided to open up and extend to make a really inviting and sociable kitchen, dining and living space. They had been renovating for the last few years, restoring original beauty whilst also creating a home that suits both their lifestyle and design style.

A couple of comfy armchairs at the end of the kitchen and doors leading out to the garden, perfect.

The feel of this large room was wonderful. It was so calm and open, yet still retained all the character of the historic property. It had clearly been done with so much thought and consideration. We feel very lucky to be able to work with so many clever and creative and stylish people.

A lovely open-plan room with a very handsome model!

Our Shaker furniture was the main choice here. The owners opted for bespoke colours for their cupboards which we mixed up specifically. The majority have been painted in a soft, chalky neutral hue, although they decided on a really dark purpley brown for their full height pantry cupboard next to the range cooker. I love this mix, a little bit dark and a little bit light, it’s the best of both worlds…

Such a great colour combination, soft and pale and dark and moody.

These customers also decided on a bespoke Classic English dresser, open on top with shelving and four drawers on soft close runners at the base. What a perfect piece for displaying glassware and cookbooks but also with the ability to chuck a few things in the bottom out of sight!

The open dresser on the left and an integrated fridge freezer and slim pantry on the right.

The other piece of deVOL furniture, and a real show stopper, was the Butler’s Pantry. From our Heirloom Collection, this freestanding cupboard was fitted into one of the alcoves in the dining room and finished in our own ‘Princelet Pink’ inside and out. Half is used as a little bar area, storing liquors and glassware, while the other is reserved for the not-so-pretty essentials.

The dream piece for any dining room… or any other room for that matter!

I love this room for its ability to be open and airy without sacrificing any character and charm. Our simple, handmade furniture looks pretty perfect too! What a wonderful space for this young family to use and enjoy every single day.
