A Warwickshire Barn
28th May 2014
Tim and I had a lovely day at this beautifully renovated Barn just on the border of Warwickshire and Leicestershire, located in a pretty village off the beaten track.
The sun was shining, the doors were wide open, three dogs were sprawled out on the cool floor, oh and the main point of going, the Kitchen! was amazing.
Its a Shaker kitchen with very strong influences from our ‘pantry blue utility’ here at Cotes Mill and was designed by Emily one of kitchen designers (with the help of course of the customers). They came to the Mill, saw the new tongue and grooved paneling in our showroom and wanted the same look.
The fitted cupboards are all from our standard Shaker range and the large prep table with stools is from our Classic English range, all painted in our own Mushroom paint colour. The two ranges of furniture work really well together and this prep table is our most popular piece of furniture, everyone who sees it wants it in their kitchen so we make them to any size. Its quite common for us to design kitchens where the fitted areas are in Shaker and the freestanding pieces like the Pantry or Island are from the Classic range.
The worktops on the fitted run are Lagoon silestone, the perfect alternative to Carrara Marble, the Prep table has a wonderful rustic worktop made here in our workshops from European Oak. This wooden worktop will age beautifully and gives character to the room with its natural imperfections and tactile surface. For lots more images of this kitchen look on our website – projects page or on deVOL Kitchens pinterest.
These customers definitely have style, firstly, they have a deVOL kitchen,
secondly, we are fitting their utility next month and its going to be PINK!!! Yes our beautiful Old Rose Shaker paint colour
and finally they have books in their kitchen by Anthony Bourdain, the coolest chef by a country mile. If you ever get a chance to watch ‘No Reservations’ its great, Mr Bourdain travels all over the world checking out food and eating in all sorts of places, entertaining and very un like the usual celebrity chefs we are used to.
Check out his websites and blogs and his book ‘LA Confidential’, very interesting, very edgy and perfect for people who love food, cultures and something that’s real not dumbed down for mainstream tv, he’s a legend, check out his tumbler site, its up dated regularly and gives you a good introduction into his way… not for the faint hearted. anthonybourdain.tumblr.com/
