Bath, here we come…
6th October 2023
We have an opening date. All being well, we’ll be welcoming the very first visitors into our new Bath showroom on Wednesday 11th October. Not long now, so I thought I’d give you a peek at what we’ve been busy working on behind the doors of 17 George Street…
17 George Street, Bath. Our new home.
We were instantly captivated by Bath, a World Heritage Site with the most spectacular architecture. There’s an abundance of fabulous period properties here, all made even lovelier with their signature honey-coloured Bath Stone. It’s been a dream of ours to set up shop here for many years, but we struggled to find the perfect place. After giving up on buying, our directors, Paul, Robin and Helen, decided to hunt for a rental and completely lucked out when they discovered this Georgian beauty. It was perfect. Built circa 1776, it’s Grade II listed and has the most incredible original features, high ceilings, huge windows, ornate coving, all the good stuff. These glorious old rooms were just waiting to be restored to their former glory.
Renovating this spectacular 18th century building was a dream.deVOL Mayan Taps and our showstopping Brass Sink.
Making the most of every quirky alcove with bespoke curved doors.
Helen got to work designing the kitchens, and I think she’s really outdone herself this time. Each room has its own distinct charm but flows quite seamlessly and feels so authentic, it’s as if they have always been this way. And it’s not just deVOL cupboards that feel right at home, our collections of vintage-inspired lights and taps and sinks and tiles are made for rooms like this, they look so good. We hope when you step inside this showroom you will be transported to a calm and beautiful place. It’s magic how atmospheric interiors have this ability.
Look at these windows and shutters! How lucky are we?A glimpse at this very smart dresser, we have a feeling we’ll be seeing this classic piece in more and more kitchens.

Of course, we wanted the outside to look just as cool and just as grand as the inside so we gave the place a lick of Royal Blue and Robin went down to hand-paint the sign. Gilding is a traditional decorative technique where you apply a thin layer of gold, either with gold leaf or actual gold paint. Sometimes the old way is the best way.
Robin hand-painting our new sign, just one of his many talents. It’s official, we are now part of George Street’s rich history.
This is Lee who has been invaluable in getting this place ready. Here he is adding our Lace Market Tiles to this colourful kitchen.
Almost finished, we just need some of Helen’s styling magic.
The worktops are in, the tiles are up, and take a look at those colours… It’s hard to pick a favourite, in fact, we loved two of them so much we decided to add them to the deVOL collection! More on that very soon but for now, I’ll leave you with this photo of Robin, Helen and Paul looking a little bit like a band about to drop their new album. Hats off to all three of them, and our amazing team, who have been working tirelessly to make this place special. We hope it will be the most beautiful kitchen showroom Bath has ever seen.
