I love these new Haberdasher’s tints and colours…

You may have spotted this new cupboard on Instagram but I wanted to share these lovely photos here on our journal too, just in case you missed it. This is our brand new Haberdasher’s finish “Sheer Stocking White”, a one-coat tinted oil that gives a pretty pale wash of ever so slight colour to the oak. It’s really different to the rich, deep coloured wood we’re so used to seeing in this range of furniture but I love it and think it’s perfect for the ever-growing desire for neutral colour palettes and delightfully simple interiors. Oh and the best bit, the tint is applied once the cupboard has been constructed so it’s super easy to reapply once you start living with it, no need to worry!
I was lucky enough to be visiting Cotes Mill when this cupboard made its debut. If you haven’t seen the Haberdasher’s collection in person, you really should try and make it to one of our showrooms. The craftsmanship is just beautiful, from the effortless sliding drawers to the handcrafted pivot hinges made in our very own metal studio! I think if I was going to get just one piece of deVOL furniture it would be this pantry cupboard. It would look so good full of neatly stacked glass jars and bowls and mugs and tumblers with fresh linens tucked neatly below. But you can just as easily imagine it in a bathroom with fluffy towels and pretty toiletries… or in your living room full of books and quirky trinkets. It’s guaranteed to be something you will take from home to home and pass down from generation to generation.
This finish isn’t the only new addition. There are three new colours too, each available in a distressed or unique craquelure finish. Bobbin Black, Storefront Green and Laundry White, all very aptly named to give a little nod to the old clothing and textile shops that inspired this collection. The very cool crackled finish will give your cupboard an aged look and although very subtle, we would probably recommend just choosing a few cupboards to undergo this ageing process. We’re yet to have any full kitchens or cupboards to show you but it’s the same technique we use to age the back of the Botanical and Potager cupboards and the glass partition wall in the New York showroom too.
