A Village Green deVOL Kitchen in Brooklyn, New York

Since introducing Village Green to our beautiful range of Shaker colours everyone’s been so eager to see it in all its glory in one of our customers’ kitchens. So, we were very excited when we discovered that the very first Village Green kitchen is also the very first deVOL Kitchen to be installed in Brooklyn, New York! It doesn’t get much cooler than that.
The owners of this cool home in Brooklyn sent these photos over a little while ago, they made me smile and I thought you might like to see them too. Village Green is an old school colour, a little on the olivey side of greens, it’s beautiful and although dark greens have been on the radar for quite some time now, I think it’s time for this paler shade to have its moment. I’m sure it will compete well with the emerald and racing greens, but also stand the test of time and be just as lovely now as in years to come.
Besides the beautiful green hue, I think my favourite thing about this kitchen is just how real and authentic it feels, I can totally imagine hanging out around the table with friends and just enjoying spending time in there. Nothing about this space feels overdone or too much or showy, but it certainly isn’t dull, it feels playful and full of life but still so humble in its beauty.
So many people ask if they can have a deVOL Kitchen in America and the answer is yes! I spoke to a lovely man in the St. John’s Square showroom the other day, he was an interior designer, also from New York, and he told me of his utter struggle to find anything like a proper handmade, simple but beautiful kitchen over in the US. It made me realise just why we have customers that are more than happy to ship our cupboards thousands of miles across the world, these people pick deVOL because they just can’t find anything else quite like us, they appreciate thoughtful design and really well-made cupboards and have fallen in love with the classic English, pared-back style that we do so well, so for them it’s worth it.
It’s also so cool to see that when customers order their furniture from us and fit it themselves or get their local builders to do it, that it still looks great. Our Shaker cabinets all come ready assembled so they really are very straight forward to fit as long as you know what you’re doing, and of course we won’t just drop your cupboards off and leave you to it, our amazing team are always at the end of the phone to help you out with any questions or struggles. I hope this little green kitchen has shown you that if you live a very long way from us here in Leicestershire or London, even if you’re on the other side of the world, that all is not lost and you can still have a deVOL Kitchen!
